Internationally known singer-songwriter and Billboard® award-winner Zola returns to Scullers to celebrate the launch of her latest CD, “here with you.”
Zola comes to you with her talented band, led by pianist Doug Hammer, showcasing her original songs in a unique blend of musical styles comprising jazz, blues, pop, contemporary cabaret, and more.
Zola’s pure voice is described as “alluring and sensuous.” Her songs exude “an emotion and romance that wrap around you like the sounds of days gone by, with a command of the heart that is rarely found in music today.” Zola’s dynamic, engaging stage presence and endearing personality, with its sophisticated, passionate, sultry and playful sides drew audience raves at her 1997 Scullers debut.
Zola has recorded six solo albums of original material, including children’s music, in addition to her contribution of numerous tracks on artist compilation CDs.
The daughter of a renowned Broadway actress/singer/comedienne, Zola was, at the age of three (!), the favorite singing child star on the summer stages of Cape Town, South Africa. By her teens, she was already a published songwriter and accomplished voiceover artist. In addition to her work as a teacher of English and Drama and as a children’s entertainer, Zola also performed as lead female vocalist with two of her hometown’s most sought after “wedding” bands.
Since coming to the U.S. in 1986, Zola has accumulated a loyal and growing fan base of audiences of all ages. For more information, please visit www.zola.us
